Productivity and habit change counseling
One of Eric Grey’s passion is relentless self-improvement. He has been studying material on productivity, habit change and lifestyle design for as long as he can remember (starting with books about how to clean his room when he was only 9 years old). He has tremendous compassion for people who are contemplating a life change, but just don’t know how they can do it. He will work with you to determine what changes need to be made and then develop a plan for stepwise, simple changes that get you to your goals. He is also committed to helping you monitor your progress using simple, free Internet tools.
Dietary counseling
We are committed to helping people find ways of eating food that are both enjoyable and supportive of their health goals. Chinese medicine has specific dietary theories that Eric Grey has adapted for the use of modern people in the United States. Eric is particularly well equipped to help people transition to a vegetarian or vegan diet if they decide to make that change for themselves. He has been vegan for a decade and did extensive research about vegan diets before making the change himself. However, Eric does not force this change on anyone, understanding that everybody needs to find a diet that works for them.
Chinese herbs
While acupuncture is the most well known part of Chinese Medicine, Chinese herbalism has an even longer recorded history of active use. Chinese herbalism can be used to address any possible condition of human disease. The herbs are combined in very specific, time tested formulas based on in-depth diagnosis.
Watershed Community Wellness takes the greatest possible care in choosing what herbs to carry. We are very careful to buy herbs from reputable dealers who verify the identity of every herb we carry. We also source organic herbs whenever possible. Those that are not organic are guaranteed to be free of detectable pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals and other toxins.
Chinese herbs can be dispensed in a number of ways. Most commonly they can be purchased in crude form and boiled at home following instructions from your practitioner. They can also be prescribed in a powdered form that is mixed with water and consumed. Finally, some herbs can be prescribed in a capsule form.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves the gentle insertion of very fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body that have been determined over thousands of years of research and study to have varying positive effects on the body. The use of acupuncture points involves the application of theories about the human body and the circulation of vital energy that have been established, recorded, studied and tested first in China and then all over the world.
There are a wide variety of ways of doing acupuncture – I prefer a gentle, focused method that puts great intention into each point. I sometimes will use as few as two needles, and rarely more than a dozen. Acupuncture almost universally leaves a person feeling very relaxed and open, and often can have profound effects including emotional releases and changes in old symptoms and diseases.
Acupuncture also has adjunct therapies that use the same points on the body, but involve different applications. Moxibustion is the use of a special preparation of an herb that is placed on the body at specific points and burned, warming the body and producing a wonderful feeling of movement and nourishment. Cupping is the application of sterile glass cups to certain regions of the body. The cups then may be moved or left in place, depending on desired effect. It generally is a very relaxing treatment that is especially good for musculo-skeletal conditions.
